The gas and water line will share, sort-of, the same trench. Each line has different requirements. Water lines must be buried below the frost line, which is 36 inches in our area. The gas line does not need to go below the frost line, and will occupy a shallower section of the trench at a specified distance from the water line. While the trench is open, our electrician will install two large conduits with pull-cords inside them. The conduits will be 1 1/2" or larger in diameter, will enter the building near the gas meter, cross the parking lot and be "stubbed up" just beyond the hedge, but not in the lawn where they will impede mowing. These conduits will one day be used to provide electricity to an electronic sign or for lighting for our existing signs.
As announced in the Beat, the New Home team, with the counsel of our architect, Ken Doyno, selected the carpet and the paint for the new addition and the sections of the historical building that are being renovated. In addition to carpeting the offices, classrooms, hallways and sanctuary, we will have new carpeting in the old fellowship hall and the large basement classroom. We also plan to purchase the same carpeting for the room formerly known and the fish tank/rainbow room and the hallway to the exit door.
Paint samples left to right are:
Dark –Morris Room Grey SW 0037
Middle – Sandbar SW 7547
Light – Panda White SW6147
To better see the colors, click the link to the Sherwin Williams site.RDC has provided a floorplan showing which walls get which colors. We've also asked TEDCO for a quote to patch and paint the ceiling in the old fellowship hall and the walls.
In other news, our crew is moving rapidly in applying the stucco to the exterior of the building. In these photos you can see that the two base layers have been applied and all that remains is for the finish layer to be troweled on to match the texture of our existing stucco.
Bricklayers have almost finished applying the brick veneer under the windows.
The new door to the rear of the old fellowship hall has been installed, which means that all windows and exterior doors are in place.
In the interior, the basement is being framed in and drywalled. This photo is the bottom of the stairwell. Conduit is in place, but the new gas and water lines have yet to be installed. Once done, carpenters will frame and install our new steps to the basement.
Pumps for hot water (for heating) wait to be installed. The large tank is an expansion tank, which is also part of our new hot water heating system. The box in the lower right of the photo contains our new high-efficiency boiler that will heat the water for the radiators in the historical section of Sunnyhill and provide additional heat, if needed, for our new HVAC system for the sanctuary.
